Step-by-Step Setup
Download the App
Download Eatomate from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). The app is free to download with a 14-day trial of all features.

Set Up Your Profile
Enter your basic info for accurate nutrition calculations:
- Height and weight (for calorie recommendations)
- Dietary preferences (vegetarian, vegan, etc.)
- Nutrition goals (optional)
This takes about 2 minutes.
Grant Camera Permissions
Eatomate needs camera access for:
- Receipt scanning: OCR to extract grocery items and build your pantry
- Barcode scanning: Instant nutrition lookup from 2M+ barcode database
You're Ready!
That's it. Now you can log your first meal (search + weigh).
Optional: Set Up Household
You can invite household members to share your pantry and track nutrition together:
- Go to Settings → Household
- Tap "Invite Member"
- Enter their email address
- They'll receive an invitation code to join your household
Household Privacy
Each household member has their own private meals by default. You can optionally mark meals as "shared household meals" (e.g., family dinners). Each member has their own accuracy calibration based on their cooking patterns.
Optional: Scan Your First Receipt
Before logging meals, we recommend scanning a grocery receipt. This builds your ingredient database for better accuracy:
- 1.Tap Pantry → Upload Receipt
- 2.Take a photo of your grocery receipt
- 3.Our OCR engine extracts items automatically
- 4.Review and confirm (usually under a minute)
This is optional but highly recommended. It jumpstarts the reconciliation system by telling Eatomate what ingredients you have.
