    Frequently Asked Questions

    How does pricing work?

Pay £19.99/month (or £119.94/year) for your first household member, then £9.99/month (or £59.94/year) for each additional member. Add or remove members anytime with automatic billing.

Do all members of a household need an Eatomate account?

Yes, every household member must have their own Eatomate account under the same household. This is a fundamental requirement, not a business decision. Eatomate achieves 93% weekly accuracy through pantry reconciliation: when a pantry item is consumed, the system needs to know exactly who ate how much from the shared pantry. If even one person is eating from the pantry without tracking, the mass conservation equation breaks (consumed + remaining + waste must equal purchased) and accuracy drops for everyone. Every member needs to log their meals so the system can attribute consumption correctly and reconcile against the shared pantry inventory.

    Critical for 93% Accuracy

What about children, elderly parents, or people without smartphones?

Helper relationships solve this. Any household member with the app can track meals on behalf of someone else. Common use cases: parents tracking for young children (no smartphone needed), adult children tracking for elderly parents, or caregivers tracking for anyone they care for. When logging a meal, use the account selector to choose who it's for. The tracked person still counts as a household member (£9.99/month) because their consumption affects pantry reconciliation, but they don't need their own device.

No. Both monthly and annual plans can be cancelled anytime with no penalties or fees.

How accurate is the nutrition tracking?

Meal identity is 100% because you select it (90% single-tap from predictions, 9% search, 1% weigh). Nutrition accuracy reaches ~93% by Week 4 through reconciliation as the system learns your pantry, recipes, and waste patterns. Learn more about our accuracy system.

    How does meal tracking work?

Week 1-2: Weigh each meal type 3 times to calibrate your portion sizes (e.g., chicken breast: 202g ± 8g). Week 3+: 90% of meals are single-tap from predicted top 5 list (1 second), 9% quick search (10 seconds), 1% weigh novel items (30 seconds). Average: 2 seconds per meal. Scan grocery receipts to build your pantry (15 seconds). Physics-based reconciliation cross-references pantry depletion with logged meals, converging to ~93% nutrition accuracy by Week 4.

    What equipment do I need?

    Required for all users:

    • Kitchen scale: Any basic digital kitchen scale that displays weight in grams (~£10-20)
    • Smartphone: iPhone (iOS 11+) or Android (7.0+) with camera for barcode and receipt scanning

For exercise & body composition features (optional):

    • Bathroom scale: Standard digital scale for body weight tracking (~£15-30)
    • Measuring tape: Flexible tape for body circumference measurements (~£3-5)
