Terms of Service

Last updated: March 25, 2026

Please read these terms carefully before using Eatomate. By using our service, you agree to these terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Eatomate ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Eatomate provides a nutrition tracking application that uses reconciliation algorithms to estimate food consumption. The Service includes:

  • Mobile application for meal tracking via predictive modeling
  • Receipt and barcode scanning for pantry management and data extraction
  • Aggregation of anonymized data across all data streams for commercial insights (see Privacy Policy Section 5)
  • Web dashboard for analytics and household management
  • Automated calibration and accuracy improvement

Anonymized Data and Pricing Intelligence

By using the Service, you acknowledge that two categories of de-identified data are produced as described in our Privacy Policy (Section 5):

  • Pricing Intelligence: Individual SKU-level price observations (store, location, product, price, date) are stored de-identified with no user ID, no receipt ID, and no item combinations. Each product is an independent price observation that cannot be traced to any individual.
  • Health, Nutrition, and Economic Aggregates: Population-level statistics derived from nutrition patterns, purchasing patterns, exercise data, body composition trends, and combinations thereof (e.g., aggregate cost per nutrient by demographic group). Dimensions include locality (from store locations on receipts, not home addresses), 5-year age bands, gender, dietary pattern, and activity level. Per-person metrics are computed at query time and never stored separately; only aggregates across 5 or more users are produced. Your exact weight, height, age, and body composition are never included in aggregate outputs.
  • K-Anonymity: No aggregate statistic from user data is ever based on fewer than 5 users across any dimension combination. De-identified pricing intelligence is not subject to this threshold as it contains no user identifiers.
  • Receipt Processing: Receipt images are deleted after 30 days. Raw store addresses (street, postcode) are immediately discarded from your account after processing; only locality/borough is retained for service delivery.
  • De-identified pricing data and anonymized aggregate statistics are retained indefinitely for commercial research, public health intelligence, academic partnerships, and data licensing.

Under GDPR, truly anonymized data is not personal data. De-identified pricing intelligence and aggregate outputs contain no personally identifiable information and cannot be linked to any individual user.
