Data Deletion Instructions

This page provides instructions on how to delete your account and personal data from Eatomate.

1. Delete Your Account In-App

The fastest way to delete your account and data

iOS (iPhone/iPad)

  1. 1.Open the Eatomate app on your iOS device
  2. 2.Tap on Dashboard (top right)
  3. 3.Tap on Settings (gear icon in top right)
  4. 4.Scroll down to Account section
  5. 5.Tap Delete Account
  6. 6.Enter your password and type DELETE to confirm
  7. 7.Tap Confirm Deletion

Android

  1. 1.Open the Eatomate app on your Android device
  2. 2.Tap on Dashboard (top right)
  3. 3.Tap on Settings (gear icon in top right)
  4. 4.Scroll down to Account section
  5. 5.Tap Delete Account
  6. 6.Enter your password and type DELETE to confirm
  7. 7.Tap Confirm Deletion

Website

  1. 1.Go to app.eatomate.co.uk and log in
  2. 2.Click on Settings (gear icon in top left)
  3. 3.Scroll down to Account section
  4. 4.Click Delete Account
  5. 5.Enter your password and type DELETE to confirm
  6. 6.Click Confirm Deletion

Important Note for Household Founders

If you are the founder of a household with multiple members, deleting your account will delete the entire household and all member accounts. You will be asked to confirm this action before proceeding.

2. Request Deletion via Email

If you cannot access the app

If you are unable to access the Eatomate app, you can request account deletion by email:

  1. 1.Send an email from your registered email address to support@eatomate.co.uk
  2. 2.Use the subject line: "Data Deletion Request"
  3. 3.Include your full name and confirm that you want to delete your account and all associated data
  4. 4.We will verify your identity and respond within 48 hours

Security Note

For your security, deletion requests must come from the email address registered to your Eatomate account. We cannot process deletion requests from different email addresses.

3. What Data Gets Deleted

Complete list of data removed from our systems

Personal Information

  • Email address, name, and profile information
  • Height, weight, age, gender, and other personal metrics
  • Dietary preferences and restrictions
  • Location data (city, country, timezone)

Household Data (Only Deleted When Household Founder Deletes Household)

The following data is owned by the household and is only deleted when the household founder deletes the entire household. If you are a household member (not the founder) and you leave the household, this data is retained in case you rejoin:

  • All meal logs and nutrition tracking history (deleted 30 days after household deletion)
  • Receipt images and barcode scans (deleted 30 days after household deletion)
  • Pantry items and inventory data (deleted 30 days after household deletion)
  • Accuracy calibration data and reconciliation history (deleted 30 days after household deletion)
  • Meal plan history (deleted 30 days after household deletion)

Personal Data (Always Deleted)

The following personal data is always anonymized immediately when you delete your account, regardless of whether you are a household founder or member:

  • Personal accuracy calibration data
  • Meal predictions and user-specific settings

Account Data

  • Login credentials and authentication tokens
  • OAuth connections (Google, Facebook, Apple)
  • Two-factor authentication settings
  • Cookie consent preferences

Data Retained for Legal/Billing Purposes

The following limited data may be retained for legal compliance and fraud prevention:

  • Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We store only minimal Stripe identifiers (customer ID and subscription ID) which are retained for 7 years to comply with financial record-keeping regulations. Stripe retains payment transaction records per their legal obligations and privacy policy.
  • Anonymized aggregated data for research and product improvement (no personally identifiable information)
  • Database backups are retained for 6 days for disaster recovery. After 6 days, all backup copies are permanently purged.

4. Deletion Timeline

When your data will be removed

Immediate

Your account is immediately marked for deletion and you are logged out of all devices. You have a 30-day grace period to cancel the deletion by logging back in. During this time, your data remains intact but your account is inaccessible.

After 30 Days

If you haven't cancelled the deletion, your account is permanently anonymized. All personal data (email, name, password, body measurements) is replaced with anonymized values. Your data becomes completely unrecoverable and cannot be restored.

Within 36 Days

All database backup copies containing your anonymized data are permanently purged from our encrypted backup storage (6 days after anonymization). After this point, no trace of your data remains in our systems.

Grace Period Notice

You have 30 days to cancel your account deletion by simply logging back in. After 30 days, the deletion becomes permanent and cannot be reversed.
